Synopsis: Added: Oct 09, 2018 2:19 pm NASA has awarded a three-month contract extension to Ball Aerospace and Technologies Corporation in Boulder, CO, for continuing on-orbit operations and maintenance of the Kepler system and returning science data to the ground for analysis and decommissioning and disposal activities.


The Kepler/K2 Flight Planning Center (FPC) and Mission Operations Center (MOC) contract, managed by the Project Management Division at NASA"s Ames Research Center in Moffett Field, California, is a cost-plus-fixed-fee contract. The existing contract was awarded on May 11, 2009, as the result of an Announcement of Opportunity. This award extends the existing contract by three months, to December 31, 2018. The potential value of the mission extension is approximately $650000. The potential total value of the contract is approximately $36.8 million. Pursuant to NFS 1872.102(a)(1), this mission extension was not competed.
